Daredevil
Following a successful report it revealed that not only was Marvel firing all of the writers and directors from Daredevil: Born Again and essentially starting over, but they were also rethinking their entire approach to television. Fewer miniseries and more ongoing shows. Real “creative guidelines” from start to finish that apparently weren’t necessary before.
We may have dodged a bullet with the return of Daredevil, if these reports are accurate. Initially, the plan for Daredevil seemed pretty interesting. It would be a bit more grounded with Matt practicing law and taking on real-life cases, while Kingpin would handle government-related issues as the town’s mayor. But then the two found themselves “sucked back into their old lives” as situations arose.
A Daredevil legal drama seems to have potential (I mean, people like legal dramas for a reason, and you can always throw bloody fights in them), but Daredevil wouldn’t even wear his costume until episode 4 from the Serie. , which seems… strange.
But beyond that, many movie insiders have teased the reason for this, or just say it outright. Although this may no longer be the case, you can still consider this a disclose if they are still going in that direction. Let’s hope that’s not the case.
Daredevil
The reason Matt hangs up his Daredevil filming is because Foggy and Karen are shot and killed or seriously injured…off-screen…early in the series. These would be his co-leads played by Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll. It was always strange that they both didn’t return for the series, and other supporting roles like Vanessa, Fisk’s love interest, were recast.
Needless to say, this would have been a horrible opening to kill off two of the main characters from the beloved original series, off screen, no less, to get Matt to take a break from crime-fighting for a while. Hopefully this draft of the script gets thrown in the trash and they find a way to bring Karen and Foggy back, which they obviously should.
The conspiracy around all this is that Disney tried to create “a Disney” here, a trick of renaming a show to reset pay rates to Season 1 levels. They did this with children’s shows in the past, but by making Daredevil “Born Again” instead of Season 4, and not bringing back old cast members who might command higher rates, the whole thing could have been an elaborate cost saving. exercise.
Wilson Fisk’s Vincent D’Onofrio shrugged off the drama, saying things like this happen and he would have been more disappointed if they had done something bad. Apparently, Daredevil: Born Again will last two seasons of 9 episodes, and this plan has not changed. This would be a departure from every other Marvel series, however, as Loki is the only live-action series that still has an official season 2.
But going back to the drawing board at this point will undoubtedly create a lot of delays and we have no idea when this series will surface. The general plan seems to be to make TV shows that actually feel like TV shows, rather than mini-series to movies or crossovers. So we’ll see how it goes.
