NBA forward Trey Lyles is selling a home in the Encino neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles is a favored offseason destination for many NBA players, which came as no surprise when Trey Lyles purchased a new home under construction there in 2021 while playing for the San Antonio Spurs in the time. Now a member of the Sacramento Kings, the multi-talented forward has put his getaway in Los Angeles’ Encino neighborhood on the market for $5.9 million.
The contemporary house is fronted by two gates and a U-shaped driveway.
Located at 4778, avenue Zelzah, the nearly half-acre property sits south of Ventura Boulevard on the west end of Encino. Listing Agent Kate Newton from Beverly Hills Hilton & Hyland says Valley neighborhoods like Sherman Oaks, Studio City and Encino have become hot spots for high-profile buyers in recent years thanks to “larger lots, which give those seeking it much-needed privacy.”
A living room with fireplace and a glass wine cellar sit at the entrance.
The contemporary five-bedroom residence was completed in 2020, showcasing the growing number of new builds sought in the area. The bold exterior combines wood, metal and stone for a facade that is both natural and refined.
Evidence of the home’s modern construction is on full display throughout the two-story structure. A stylish interior is accented by warm wood accents. An open floor plan complemented by high ceilings and large windows creates bright and airy living spaces. Life is made simpler with a Control 4 smart home automation system.
Wooden beams and floors lend a sophisticated yet pleasing note to the open concept floor plan.
However, modern doesn’t mean the home lacks comfort, says Newton. “The house is certainly chic but it also has a warm atmosphere. There is beautiful woodwork everywhere. There are fireplaces everywhere.
A large entrance hall on two floors welcomes you into the main house. On the first floor, several seating areas flow into the open dining room and kitchen. A pocket glass door leads effortlessly to the lush courtyard.
A large kitchen/bar anchors the chef’s kitchen.
“We’re in Southern California, so a lot of life takes place outside,” Newton says. “The garden includes an open, heated cabana, fire pit and summer kitchen, then a beautiful infinity pool with a large Baja shelf.”
Developed by its professional athlete owner, the property also includes a putting green, a half-basketball court and an accessory living area currently converted into a gym.
Dark panels and wall coverings give the cinema room a subdued ambiance.
Upstairs, the master suite features a fireplace, large walk-in closet, and accordion doors opening to a spacious balcony. The remaining three en-suite bedrooms all offer generous closet space.
Other highlights include a screening room, a wine exhibition, and a second-floor terrace located in front of the house.
The master suite features a wall-mounted fireplace and walk-out balcony.
At the time of purchasing the home, Lyles had signed with the San Antonio Spurs before a brief stint with the Detroit Pistons. After missing a few games at the start of the season due to a calf injury, the Canadian-born player returned in November.
