Opulent and grandiose rooms define the villa located on Hong Kong’s Victoria Peak.
With a location called Cheuk Nang Lookout in the upscale residential area known as the Peak, this Hong Kong single-family residence offers stunning views. Nestled in greenery, the house overlooks the sea and distant islands while southern Hong Kong fills the expanse below.
Inside, the place is sumptuous. Elegant marble surfaces are seemingly everywhere: on floors, walls, stairs, the kitchen and bathrooms. Ceiling medallions surmount opulent chandeliers.
Several verandas offer stunning views of the south side of Hong Kong Island.
“It’s not typical architecture that’s almost castle-like,” says Letizia G. Casalino, executive director of the real estate company. OKAY.com“but you can find atypical homes like these at the Peak, especially for homes built in 2000 or earlier.”
The main living room is reminiscent of a European-style ballroom with finely inlaid flooring, stone columns and an elaborate paneled ceiling. A wall of windows faces south. Scrolled and gilded ironwork frames the staircase.
The high ceilings continue into the stylish kitchen, adding a feeling of space.
The fully equipped modern kitchen features a waterfall center island, high ceilings and a smooth surface cooktop.
THE 4,278 square foot villa includes six bedrooms and four bathrooms. Among them is the master suite with a spacious dressing room, a fitted bathroom and a private veranda.
A flagstone terrace provides plenty of sunbathing space around the pool.
A blue tiled border surrounds the swimming pool, which has a stone terrace and transparent balustrades to bring out the view. Multiple verandas provide more outdoor living space.
Listed at HKD 550 million, or approximately USD 70.3 million, the price is in line with recent home sales at The Peak. Casalino cited four closings this year of similarly sized homes ranging from HKD560 million to HKD860 million.
The residence enjoys an abundance of natural light from its hillside perch surrounded by greenery.
The immediate vicinity of the house is largely filled with owner-occupiers. “It’s very quiet and very private,” she said. “It’s not on the fog line, which can often be a disadvantage at the Peak.” The only direct neighbors are the other two houses located on Cheuk Nang Lookout.
Located off public transport, the property is around 10 minutes’ drive from the recently renovated Peak Tram and Peak Tower viewing platform. Without traffic, it’s a 15-minute drive to the Central business district or Causeway Bay shopping center, she says. “Peak owners usually drive or have chauffeurs.”
The extensive use of marble continues in all four bathrooms.
Casalino expects the buyer to come from those looking for a personal residence. “The house can be kept as is but I wouldn’t be surprised if the new owner completely renovates the interior and only keeps the exterior.”
