Generative artificial intelligence is powerful in analyzing and summarizing content. Here are four innovative tools for this task.
Claude for PDFs
Reading long reports is a challenge in an age of information overload. I tried many document condensers, but nothing was better than ChatGPT. Then I found Anthropic Claudewhich analyzes and condenses text, including PDFs.
To test, I downloaded the Google patent PDF in 2015 for classifying sites as low quality. Claude produced an informed and condensed explanation without too much detail.
According to Claude, the patent:
- Assigns a quality score to each resource linked to a site.
- Groups resources based on their score ranges.
- Counts the number of resources in each group.
- Calculates a weighted average link quality score for the site using the distribution of resources across groups.
- Classifies the site as low quality if the link quality score is below a threshold.
- May decrease ranking in search results of low-quality sites.
In short, it classifies sites as low quality based on their backlinks.
Claude allows you to adjust prompts for more detailed summaries, definitions, chapter creation, etc. Like ChatGPT, Claude records all dialogs so users can come back and ask for more clarification and data.
Use Claude to:
- Create takeaways of your own content.
- Understand long and complicated documents.
- Summarize content in different formats, such as paragraphs, tables, or lists.
- Create glossaries from any document.

Glasp for web pages
Glass condenses text on web pages. Users highlight sections of a page. Glasp will then create a summary while keeping the original for comparison purposes.

Spext for YouTube videos
Spext condenses and organizes audio and video. This works well for podcasts and YouTube videos by allowing users to choose which sections to analyze.
Spext divides YouTube videos into chapters (with text), allowing viewers to navigate to the relevant parts and skim through the rest. There is also a search option to find information in the video.
Use Spext to:

Slack is a great tool for internal communication and external collaboration, but it gets easily cluttered.
