Pink Griffin
What was your dream career when you were growing up?
Oceanographer.
Describe the moment you decided to become an entrepreneur.
I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit! When I was 21, I started my own business where I played harp for weddings and events – I did it on the side for 20 years! I started my own company – ABA SPEECH – when I had the idea for a physical speech therapy product called Action Builder Cards. I started my business six years ago.
What motivates the work you do?
My mission is to help all autistic people find a way to communicate with the world!
What is the most exciting thing you are currently working on in your company?
I am working with one of my distributors so that they can purchase our two products: The Action Builder Cards and Double Up Game. We will sell and abandon this part of our business.
What does entrepreneurship mean to you?
Freedom to prioritize my family, freedom to create my own schedule, focusing on work that is important to my overall mission at ABA Speech.
He [SPI Pro] is my first place when I have a business question.
What brought you to SPI Pro?
Pat helped me develop a business mindset! Six years ago I went online and it allowed me to dream big — thanks Pat! He shares practical tips that, when applied, move my business forward. I’ve also made some amazing connections and friends here in Pro!
What is the most powerful interaction or learning moment you have had in the community?
- Meet Jeff Gargas and get his thoughts on starting my new membership – The ABA Speech Connection.
- Being on Pat’s podcast three times!
- Asking Brad Hussey to help me with my Convertkit – amazing!
“Freedom to put my family first, freedom to create my own schedule…”
What role has SPI Pro had in your company?
This is my first place when I have a business question.
What do you like most about SPI Pro and what sets SPI communities apart from other entrepreneurial communities?
I love having access to Pat with Ask Pat and the amazing speakers you bring in — Andy, Circle Manager!
What would you say to encourage entrepreneurs who are not involved in a community to join one?
Don’t go alone!
If you had to start a brand new online business from scratch today, what would it be?
I would start a company whose goal would be to help speech pathologists and other helping professionals seek alternative work environments (sales, insurance review, etc.).
If you were to start your current today, what would you do differently?
I would work with a business strategist (is that a thing) to help me position myself and my business correctly in the market. I struggle with this. I’ve had my business for six years and this is the first year I’ve made my business my main job and it feels like a struggle. Even though I’ve reached six figures (which I’m proud of), the way it scales is at a snail’s pace. I’ve actually been thinking about returning to full-time work with ABA Speech as a side hustle – eek!
If you were given $1 million today, with no strings attached, what would you do with that money?
Save it for retirement!
